Spring 2022 PeakRankings Mountain Score and Rankings Adjustments: Full Changes
Every one of our 57 currently ranked resorts has seen either a Mountain Score change or rankings shift as a result of score adjustments we released over the past several days. We’ve made these changes to more effectively relay the contrasts between each mountain—and to account for experience shifts that have occurred at dozens of resorts in the past year. We’ve also entirely eliminated ties in our rankings, which has directly shifted standings for more than half the resorts on our books. Below, we’ve compiled the score and rankings changes for each mountain.
A few notable rankings shifts have occurred:
Mammoth is now the #1 resort in California, outranking Palisades Tahoe - Olympic Valley (Squaw Valley). It remains to be seen how long Mammoth will retain the California crown, as the two Palisades Tahoe sides are expected to combine next season via a gondola connection—and receive a high-speed Red Dog replacement.
Alta is now the highest-scoring resort in the U.S., outranking Snowbird and Jackson Hole, which are now second and third in the country. One resort—Whistler Blackcomb in Canada—still outscores them all.
Tremblant jumps ahead of Stowe in our East Coast rankings, moving up to second in the region, while Stowe falls down to third. Killington is now the sole #1 resort east of the Mississippi, although this may change in the coming months as we add several additional mountains to the rankings.
Park City, Northstar, and Okemo were the hardest hit resorts with these adjustments, each dropping three points. Despite this, Park City and Okemo retain their outgoing ranks in their respective regions, with Park City remaining fourth in Utah and Okemo staying fifth in Vermont. However, Northstar has dropped one place to sixth in Tahoe.
