A Statement of Solidarity

PeakRankings stands in solidarity with the Black community. We'd like to say a few words in light of horrifying recent events.

We commend the protesters taking to the streets right now. We also praise those contributing from the sidelines as activists from home. Your actions and words are making noticeable waves. We cannot ignore the police brutality towards people of color that has become a norm in our society for far too long. Something must be done.

We'd like to highlight a few organizations we feel can make a difference. Black Lives Matter has been working towards ending state-sanctioned violence towards Black people. The Center for Policing Equity uses data-driven insights to help law enforcement agencies improve relationships with their communities.

If you're looking for a cause that hits a bit closer to home, consider supporting the National Brotherhood of Skiing. For decades, this organization has been working to “identify, develop and support athletes of color who will WIN international and Olympic winter sports competition representing the United States and to increase participation in winter sports.”

We recognize this statement is unable to fix the current situation. But by sharing our thoughts, we hope to exhibit our solidarity and make all our readers—whether Black or White—feel welcome in the alpine community. We are all in this together.

Thanks,

Sam, Nicole, George, and Steve
