The PeakRankings Take

Why we picked Chamonix

Chamonix isn’t one resort — it’s a valley of separate ski areas with very different personalities. The week is ordered so each day matches the terrain to the group, building from a scenic warm-up to the valley’s signature descent.

Mountain Score: PeakRankings scores cover rated North American resorts, so Chamonix’s ski areas carry our qualitative take only — we never invent a score. Read our mountain reviews →

  1. 01
    Le Tour first

Rolling alpine terrain and long, scenic descents — the right warm-up for every level.

  2. 02
Brévent / Flégère for the views

South-facing, with direct sightlines to Mont Blanc and a mix of groomers and off-piste.

  3. 03
    Grands Montets for the steeps

The valley’s most advanced area: steeper pitches, glaciated terrain, a true high-alpine feel.

  4. 04
    Vallée Blanche as the finale

One of the world’s iconic off-piste routes from the Aiguille du Midi, with professional guides.

DAY 1 · SAT 13Arrive in ChamonixGeneva → Chamonix, welcome night in townTravel day

Most guests travel from Geneva Airport (GVA) to Chamonix by shared shuttle — door to door in about 1–1.5 hours. Train travel is also possible, with several transfers.

Check in, unpack, then a relaxed welcome evening in town at La Folie: a casual dinner and drinks to get to know everyone.

DAY 2 · SUN 14Le TourWarm-up day in the north of the valley · group dinner→

We start at Le Tour, the northernmost area of the valley. Rolling alpine terrain and long, scenic descents make it the ideal warm-up: strong intermediates find confidence-building runs, advanced skiers can explore steeper options higher up.

Back to the lodge for a group dinner.

DAY 3 · MON 15Brévent / FlégèreMont Blanc views, groomers and off-piste · dinner in town→

This south-facing area delivers some of the best views in the Alps, with direct sightlines to Mont Blanc. A mix of groomed runs, off-piste options and natural features; snow quality often improves as you move higher and farther from the base.

DAY 4 · TUE 16Grands MontetsSteeps and glaciated terrain · optional après at La Folie Douce→

Chamonix’s most advanced-oriented area, known for steeper pitches, glaciated terrain and a true high-alpine feel. With updated lift infrastructure expected to be running this season, we focus on quality laps.

Optional après at La Folie Douce — live music and a classic après scene before dinner.

Les Houches sits lower and offers a different rhythm from the high-alpine zones. In good conditions, expect quieter slopes and enjoyable tree skiing.
