Can’t Miss Chilean Andes Ski Adventure

Day 1 – Thursday, August 6 | Arrival in Chile and Transfer to Corralco

Non-Addendum Arrival – Land at Temuco Domestic Airport (ZCO)

Clear customs. Santiago sits at the base of the Andes, and from the runway you can already see snow-covered ridges. Take a one-hour domestic flight south to Temuco (ZCO). This airport is the main gateway to Chile’s Araucanía region, home to snow-covered monkey puzzle forests and Lonquimay Volcano.

Meet the PeakHouse team and start the 2-hour drive to Corralco Mountain Resort. The route climbs steadily into the Andes, passing through volcanic valleys and dense Araucaria forests. It’s a stunning UNESCO-protected ecosystem.

3:00 PM – Check into Valle Corralco Hotel & Spa

Located on the lower slopes of Lonquimay. This area is known for consistent winter snow, dry powder, and a lack of crowds—a huge contrast to North American resorts.

6:00 PM – Welcome dinner at the lodge.

Your trip leader will give an overview of snow conditions, daily plans, avalanche safety, and what to expect skiing/riding a Chilean stratovolcano.

Day 2 – Friday, August 7 | Ski Corralco’s Lonquimay Volcano

07:30 AM– Breakfast

Enjoy a home-cooked meal at the lodge with a look at the day’s weather and avalanche forecast.

09:00 AM – Depart for Corralco

The resort has a small lift network but massive terrain. Beginners and intermediates will have several groomers to choose from, several of which are off one of only two high-speed quads in Chile.

Experienced guests can hike into wide-open volcanic freeride bowls; doing 2-3 of these a day is pretty normal, but having avalanche gear is key. The descent from the summit allows you to see into the volcano’s crater and across to Argentina, and is one of the longest continuous runs in the region. Snow here is generally cold and dry due to the volcano’s inland position.

4:00 PM – Return to the lodge.

5:00PM – Optional soak in the nearby thermal pools.

7:00 PM – Home-cooked dinner for the group at the lodge.

Day 3 – Saturday, August 8 | Corralco Day 2 or Free Day for Adventure

07:30 AM– Breakfast

Enjoy a home-cooked meal at the lodge with a look at the day’s weather and avalanche forecast.

09:00 AM (Option 1) – Corralco Ski Day 2

Enjoy another ski day or…

09:00 AM (Option 2) – Optional snowmobiling excursion
Head out with a guide for a snowmobile trip into the Malalcahuello National Reserve. Routes pass through ancient araucaria forests and up volcanic slopes with clear views of Lonquimay and surrounding peaks. Option to combine the outing with short snowshoe walks.

4:00 PM – Return to the lodge

5:00PM – Optional soak in the nearby thermal pools.

Head to the natural hot pools after your day outside for a rejuvenating soak. Indoor pools at Malalcahuello or outdoor pools at Manzanar.

7:00 PM – Home-cooked dinner for the group at the lodge.

Pack up and prepare for a travel day.

Day 4 – Sunday, August 9 | Transfer to Nevados de Chillán

07:00 AM – Light breakfast and checkout of the lodge.

08:00 AM – Drive north toward Nevados de Chillán

This is Chile’s most snow-sure ski destination, and in our view the best overall resort in the country. It’s built on a chain of active volcanoes that produce both skiable slopes and natural hot springs. It’s a 6 hour drive from Corralco

12:30 PM – Lunch stop in Los Ángeles

This local city is known for its central market and traditional Chilean dishes. Grab an optional lunch with the group or simply stretch your legs.

4:00 PM – Arrive at Nevados de Chillán

Check into your accommodations.

7:00 PM – Dinner and Aprés

Home-cooked meal provided by your PeakHouse lead and optional night out to explore the Las Trancas aprés scene.

Day 5 – Monday, August 10 | Ski Nevados de Chillán

07:30 AM – Breakfast provided for you at the lodge.

09:00 AM – Departure for the ski resort

Skiers start the day on the resort’s interconnected lift network spanning three volcanoes. Terrain ranges from groomed cruisers to natural halfpipes carved by lava flows. Off-piste zones here are legendary for long, rolling pitches and geothermal features — skiing past steaming vents is possible in some areas.
For beginners and intermediates, the Las Tres Marías trail is worth a run or two. At 13 kilometers, it’s one of the longest lift-accessible runs in the world, dropping from high alpine terrain into forested slopes. The route changes character multiple times, offering a true highlight of South America’s alpine biodiversity.

4:00 PM – Depart the resort and return to the lodge.

5:00 PM – Optional soak in the thermal pools.

7:00 PM – Enjoy a home-cooked dinner by the PeakHouse crew.

Day 6 – Tuesday, August 11 | Nevados de Chillán Day 2 or Free Day for Adventure

09:00 AM – Departure for the day’s adventure.

Ski Option:
Return to Nevados de Chillán to explore new lines or revisit favorites from the day before.

Optional Dogsledding Adventure:
Head out with local mushers for a half-day dogsledding experience through Andean forests and snowfields. Route winds between lenga forests and dramatic volcano views.

4:00 PM – Return to the lodge from your chosen adventure.

5:00 PM – Optional soak in the thermal pools.

7:00 PM – Depart the lodge for Las Trancas, a charming mountain village just a short drive away and perhaps our favorite non-commercialized ski town in South America. Gather at a local restaurant for an optional dinner featuring traditional Chilean fare, with hearty dishes like pastel de choclo, cazuela, or grilled meats. Afterward, enjoy après-style drinks with the group; pisco sours are the region’s signature drink, but it’s known for high-quality wine and beer too.
